1. Can eyelash extensions damage your natural lashes?

No, at Auckland Lash and Brows, our work is based on your natural condition of your lashes (thickness, health, length), to consult the appropriate lash extension style, then apply them correctly and properly so lash extensions never affect your lashes’ health. Please never rub your eyes or pull on the extensions because it can cause lash lost and damage. Once applied correctly and not pulled out, lash extensions do not damage your natural lashes.

2. What is the lash extension procedure?

We follow a comprehensive procedure, which guarantees adherence to health and safety measures, by using sterilized equipment and adhesives that do not touch the skin. The process includes:

Consultation and lash preparation

Lash cleansing

Application

Fan and/or mist drying

 3. Are they permanent?

Lash extensions are semi-permanent. Your natural lashes grow and shed at their own pace which is why you need to get them filled every 2-4 weeks.

4. How long do lash extensions last?

The lash extensions will stay on anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks. The bond life depends on many things such as: Proper aftercare, proper preparation, and proper application. Due to the lashes growth cycle, refills must be applied to fill in the gaps from the natural lashes that have fallen out.

5. Why do I need infills?

Following the life circle of lashes, between 2-5 lashes fall out every day, depending on one’s health, which means on average in 21 days, you would have lost up to 60 lashes before new lashes are produced, and some lashes grow longer than others, causing uneven extensions. This is why we need infills every 2-4 weeks to maintain the gorgeous look. Scientist have proved, people who tend to be more active, naturally have healthier lashes.

6. How long does a fill take?

Refills usually take an hour and do not require as much effort as the full application.

7. I have never had eyelash extensions before, how do I know there will be no reaction from lash extensions?

Patch testing (by applying some extensions on your outer lashes on each eye) is required 24 hours before application if there is no allergic reaction such as itching, redness, swelling, blistering, we can go ahead with the lash application.

8. Are your products you use for lash extensions safe?

We guarantee the products and equipment are from the most well-known brands in the industry with ISO approved, where the quality standard is at its highest. Our glue does not contain Formaldehyde or Hydroquinone.

9. How can lash extensions be removed?

Please do not try to remove lash extensions yourself, you will end up pulling out your natural lashes if you pick or pull on the extensions. We apply a special gel onto the extensions, that is made to weaken the bond of the glue, this way no damage is done to your natural lashes.

10. What type of lashes do you use?

We use high-quality synthetic mink and silk lashes.

11. Do you fill in other lash artists' work?

Unfortunately, we don't fill in other lash artists work. You will need to book a full set if you are a first time client with Mav Lash.

12. How can I wash them/what can I use?

An oil-free cleanser. We recommend using baby shampoo diluted in water. Here is a quick DIY:

13. DIY lash cleaner

Put one tbsp of baby shampoo in one cup of distilled water. Pour the solution into a foam bottle and make sure it's mixed well. You want your solution to be diluted. Gently cleanse the lashes making sure you clean the undersides as well. Take a clean mascara wand and gently comb through your lashes. Rinse your lashes and pat dry. No rubbing or wiping!

14. Do I have to be a certain age to get lash extensions?

No, not if you have your parents consent.

15. Do you apply bottom lashes?

We offer bottom lash extensions, however, bottom lash extensions do not last as long as upper lashes extensions.

16. What are some things that affect your eyelash extensions’ longevity?

Not following the aftercare instructions

Using products that contain oils, on or around the eye area (moisturise, sunscreen, liquid eyeliner, etc)

Swimming, sunbathing, spray tans, steam or sauna without using goggles

Clients that have oily skin or hair

Using a hair dryer near the eye area

Taking antibiotics or medical treatment, while their eyelashes have been extended

Sleeping on your face

Not cleaning your lash extensions: Like your hair, your lash extensions should be cleaned a couple of times per week and brushed every day using a lash brush and lash cleanser. If you do not cleanse your lash extensions properly, dirt, oil, makeup will make extensions stick together, your pores will be blocked, so there is no place for new lashes come out causing lash damage.
